Theological Refreshment in Ministry (TRiM) 2022 – Resilience and Refreshment – CANCELLED

November 22, 2022 @ 10:00 am - November 23, 2022 @ 1:30 pm

EVENT CANCELLED – Due to the closure of Belsey Bridge

The conference is an opportunity for lay and ordained ministers from the Eastern Region to learn and pray together in a relaxed atmosphere.

This, our annual regional short residential conference, Theological Refreshment in Ministry, is open to lay and ordained ministers, priests, local pastors, preachers, Readers and LLMs from all of the participating churches in the region.

The conference provides an opportunity to learn and pray together in a relaxed atmosphere away from church duties. Each conference focuses on a particular area of theology. This year Julie Norris, Kate Wootton, Jane Connell and Amanda Tuck will be looking at ways to help us to be more resilient and able to sustain energy for the challenges ahead.

Resilience and Refreshment

Over the past two years we have experienced much change. At the outset of the pandemic many of us adapted very quickly to new ways of doing things and new demands on us. Now we are facing the reality of challenges which may have been anticipated, but which have been accelerated by the pandemic. On top of this, we may be hearing messages about needing to sharpen our theology or see our worship as the ‘shop window’ for the church, or we may be experiencing pressure to put in place all kinds of activities to somehow bring people back into the church buildings. Many in ministry are feeling worn out, and some are disheartened. How do we regain, or retain, our ability to bounce back from what has happened and how do we find the energy to face new challenges and opportunities? Over these two days we will take some time for refreshment. There will be five sessions where we will look at what resilience is, and what tools we have to help us be more resilient. These are the themes:

1. Resilience and formation – Why we need to pay attention to the inner world.

2. Tanking up reserves – Looking at what helps when resources are low.

3. Creative ways to put the bounce back.

4. Adapting and going forward

5. Better together – Looking at the Church as a sign of God’s glory.
