The Hempnall Group of Churches Lent Talks 2023. Local not Parochial

March 7, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Each talk focuses on something that is happening on our doorstep but has a national dimension.

Our three Zoom talks all have a geographical link to the South Norfolk part of a long-distance path – the Via Beata (‘way of blessing’) – that crosses the country at the widest part from Lowestoft to St. David’s in Pembrokeshire.

The talks will take place at 7.00pm on Zoom (see below) on the following Tuesdays in Lent:

7th March:

The work of Emmaus

David Daynes will tell us about this national charity which supports people to work their way out of homelessness and has a local base in Ditchingham (which happens to be on the route of the Via Beata).

14th March:

The Via Beata

Steven Eggleton and the Revd James Shelton explain its vision, its creation as a pilgrimage way and exciting plans for the future.

The Ditchingham way-station on the Via Beata

 21st March:

Environmental work on rivers: the River Waveney

Tessa Wardley will introduce us to environmental work taking place on rivers, in particular the River Waveney (which the Via Beata follows for part of its route).
