1,000 Years of Clippesby Church from King Canute to King Charles III

October 14, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

The tenth ‘Harvest of a Quiet Eye’ weekend exhibition focusses on the history of Clippesby’s little Church, one of the oldest in the Broads. It began sometime after St. Fursey brought Christianity to East Anglia in the C7.

Like Clippesby village itself the Church is tiny.It is full of interest with Saxon and Norman carvings, mediaeval memorial brasses, beautiful stained glass and much more.

Its Churchyard is still in use and, as it always has been, gets cut only 2 or 3 times a year. It has some fascinating memorials.

Everyone is welcome to come and view the collection of old records on display together with photographs and up to date commentaries and wander around.

Entry is free. Homemade, simple refreshments will be served on both days.

Donations towards the conservation of the fourteen stained glass windows will be gratefully received.
