The school which has 68 pupils from ages three to 11 received an inspector visit carried out on 4 May 2023.  This was the first ungraded inspection since Ofsted judged the school to be good on 20 and 21 April 2017.

The school is federated with Sandringham and West Newton Church of England Primary Academy and the Executive Headteacher Jane Gardener leads both schools.

Highlights from the inspector’s report includes that the ‘leaders’ curriculum, including the early years, is ambitious and well planned. Pupils’ behaviour is calm, both in lessons and at social times. They understand the high expectations that leaders have of their behaviour. Leaders make sure that pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive the right support.  Governance is effective. Trustees, members of the local governing board (LGB) and trust leaders use their knowledge effectively to hold school leaders to account for all aspects of the school’s work, including the quality of education. Staff feel valued and appreciate the support that leaders provide.’

Mrs Jane Gardener, Executive Headteacher of Flitcham Church of England Primary Academy said: “We are delighted with the Ofsted report, we felt that both inspectors really understood our school and the report reflects well, all the good work in the school. I feel truly blessed to work in a school with such fabulous staff, families and children.”

Flitcham Primary Academy sits on the royal Sandringham Estate. It is a growing school and currently has places in all years. There is an in-school nursery provision and visits for prospective families are warmly welcomed.

Oliver Burwood, CEO of Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust said: “This is another strong report for a school within this federation. This underlines once again why we ask our small schools to work in this way. The strength of the federation’s leadership, shared between two schools, combined with an effective and committed staff, ensures strong outcomes for children.’’
